Since we use this Apache Directory Studio a lot, we occasionally have needed to find out some details on how the thing works.

This is what we have learned. The information presented would be true on other platforms, except where the "../.metadata/" folder is located.

Files Used On OS X#

We have been using OS X and have needed to provide the connection or searches we used to others.

Connection Information#

The details of the connection information is held in the file:
/Users/jim/.ApacheDirectoryStudio/.metadata/.plugins/org.apache.directory.studio.connection.core/connections.xml

The connection folder information is in:

/Users/jim/.ApacheDirectoryStudio/.metadata/.plugins/org.apache.directory.studio.connection.core/connectionFolders.xml
Of course the "jim" needs replaced with the desired user name within OS X.

Note that these files have GUIDs stored within the files so they must match form one system to another. That is, the connectionFolders.xml file has GUIDs used in the connections.xml file.

Searches#

The details of the saved search information is held in the file:
/Users/jim/.ApacheDirectoryStudio/.metadata/.plugins/org.apache.directory.studio.ldapbrowser.core/browserconnections.xml
Of course the "jim" needs replaced with the desired user name within OS X. There are GUIDs used in the browserconnections.xml files that relate to the connections.xml file.
