Overview#Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a Cloud Services Model which can be defined as a computing platform that allows the creation of web applications quickly and easily and without the complexity of buying and maintaining the software and infrastructure underneath upon which an application would be run on.
Platform as a Service methods provide a platform in the "cloud" that is typically managed, at least to some degree, by a third-party. Typically the Platform as a Service user would decide to use Linux, UNIX, Windows etc to be installed on the third-party's virtual platform.
Platform as a Service makes the development, testing, and deployment of applications quick, simple, and cost-effective. With this technology, enterprise operations, or a third-party provider, can manage OSes, virtualization, servers, storage, networking, and the PaaS software itself. Developers, however, manage the applications.
