Overview#Cardholder Verification Method can be applied for credit card products at a point of service that is attended by an operator. The method consists of comparing the signature produced by the card user on the sales slip against the witness signature of the cardholder written on the back side of the card.
The EMV preserved this method, since in some countries the legislation requires a handwritten signature as a proof of the cardholder's participation in a transaction.
