Overview#
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a political and economic confederation of nine member states and two associate members, all of which are former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) located in Eurasia (primarily in Central to North Asia), formed following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.Commonwealth of Independent States consists of the following Countries:
- Armenia
- Azerbaijan
- Belarus
- Kazakhstan
- Kyrgyzstan
- Moldova
- Russia
- Tajikistan
- Uzbekistan
- Ukraine - Largely ceased to participate in CIS from 2014, and withdrew representatives from all statutory bodies of CIS in 2018 as a result of the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation
- Turkmenistan - (an associate state)
