Some applications that connect to eDirectory via SSL will perform an extra validation step to ensure the IP address or DNS name it is configured to communicate with is contained within the Certificate.
Internet Explorer by default will perform this type of check, and if the certificate does not confirm the address/host that the browser is communicating with, the user will be prompted with the desired course of action:
