!! Global Variable
A global variable is a variable that gets its value from a Global Configuration Value (GCV) that is defined for the [driver|DirXML-Driver] or the [driverset|2.16.840.1.113719.1.14.6.1.1].
This is one of the [Novell IDM variables|DirXML Variables] available to designers.
* DirXML-ConfigValues are by definition read-only during driver operations.
* DirXML-ConfigValues are essentially macro-substitution where upon driver start-up, the values are inserted within the [DirXML-Driver] code.
* DirXML-ConfigValues may exist in one of two different scopes:
** the [driver|DirXML-Driver]
** the [driverset|2.16.840.1.113719.1.14.6.1.1].
We show some examples of [Using Expandable GCV Values].
