!Installing eDirectory on a Server for the First Time
Creating a new server, wether it is to go into an existing tree or go into a "new" tree, the same process is done.
* [Main Build Script Menu|Menu-MainBuildScriptMenu]
* 1 - Binary installation and maintenance
* 2 - Install eDirectory Base binaries (8.7.3)
NOTE:\\
If this is a Solaris server, it may require a reboot if the /etc/system file was updated. Use the following commands to restart the server if needed:
* sync
* shutdown –i6 –g0 –y
At this point, the eDirectory software has been installed, but the server is not in a tree nor will it accept LDAP requests. Proceed to the proper section in this document to create a new tree, or insert this server into an existing tree.
Return to [Main Build Script Menu|Menu-MainBuildScriptMenu]
* 3 - [Insert/Remove server from eDirectory tree|InsertRemoveServerFromEdirectoryTree]
Then select either:
* 2 - [Install server in NEW Tree|CreateNewEdirectoryTree]
or
* 3 - [Install server in Existing Tree|InstallServerInExistingTree]
