MaxQueryDuration MaxQueryDuration Microsoft Active Directory is a value within the LDAP policy in Active Directory that defines the maximum time in seconds that a Domain Controller will spend on a single SearchRequest.

When this limit is reached, the Domain Controller returns a LDAP Result Code LDAP_TIMELIMIT_EXCEEDED (03) error. Searches that require more time must specify the Simple Paged Results Control.

Default value: 120 seconds

MaxQueryDuration in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 has a Hardcoded limit which override LDAP policy in Active Directory setting when the policy value should be higher.
