Overview#
Security Principal Objects are any entity in Microsoft Windows that can be authenticated by the Microsoft Windows Operating SystemSecurity Principal Objects includes
- Windows user
- Windows Client
- or a thread or process that runs in the security context of a user or computer account or Security Groups for these accounts.
Security Principal Objects have long been a foundation for controlling access to securable resources on Microsoft Windows computers.
Each Security Principal Objects is represented in the operating system by a unique Security Identifier (SID) which is automatically assigned a SID when each Security Principal Objects is created.
