SynOptics Communications


SynOptics Communications was a Santa Clara, California-based early computer network equipment vendor from 1985 until 1994 and popularized the concept of the modular Ethernet hub and high-speed Ethernet networking over copper twisted-pair and fiber optic cables.

SynOptics Communications produced LattisNet which was one of the major contributors to the 10BASE-T standards.

SynOptics Communications was the market leader in Ethernet LAN Network hubs over rivals 3Com Corporation and Cabletron Systems

SynOptics Communications merged in October, 1994 with Wellfleet Communications form Bay Networks would in turn by acquired by Nortel Networks Corporation in June, 1998
