Overview[1]#

United States Social Security Administration (SSA) is an Independent United States Federal Agency and is responsible for determining Medicare eligibility, eligibility for and payment of Extra Help/Low Income Subsidy payments related to Part D Medicare, and collecting some premium payments for the Medicare program.

To qualify for most of these benefits, most workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; the claimant's benefits are based on the wage earner's contributions.

Otherwise benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are given based on need.

United States Social Security Administration was established by a law codified at 42 U.S.C. ยง 901. The commissioner is an appointment by the President of the United States of America
