Overview#

5G or 5th generation Mobile Networks or 5th generation wireless systems, abbreviated 5G, are the proposed next telecommunications standards beyond the current 4G/IMT-Advanced standards.

With 5G we can expect:

• Devices capable of connecting at 1 to 10 Gbps or more
• Latency in the 1ms range
• 90-percent reduction on network energy usage
• 1000x increase in bandwidth per unit area
• 10x to 100x more connected devices

5G-ENSURE will define and deliver a 5G Security Architecture, shared and agreed by the various 5G stakeholders. It will specify, develop and release an initial set of useful and usable security enablers for 5G.
