Overview#

ABSTRACT is an objectClass that cannot be used directly in an entry but must be subclassed by either a Structural ObjectClass or Auxiliary ObjectClass class.

The subclasses will inherit any required and/or optional AttributeType defined by the abstract class.

One of the most notable abstract object classes defined in LDAP is the "top" object class, which is the root class for virtually all other object classes defined in the DIT LDAP Schema.
