Overview#
AWS Shield is an Amazon Web Services that provides always on Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) protection for Applications running on AWS.AWS Shield is available in two versions:
- AWS Shield Standard is provided to all AWS incoming network traffic
- AWS Shield Advanced is an additional cost with enhanced features including the AWS Distributed Denial-of-Service response team
Both use work in conjunction with AWS CloudFront and AWS Application Load Balancer providing protection from SYN-SENT attacks
AWS Shield Standard helps protect all AWS customers, you get particular benefit if you are using AWS CloudFront and AWS Route 53. These services receive comprehensive availability protection against all known infrastructure (Network Layer and Transport Layer) attacks.
