Overview#

Authentication Agent is either an agent installed on a device’s operating system or is a separate application.

The device user authorizes the Authentication Agent to use Authentication Methods automatically from other applications that the Authentication Agent is authorized as an intermediary Identity Provider (IDP).

Typically Authentication Agents are utilized on Mobile Devices but the reality is that this is the same concept as many other devices:

• Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM)
• Windows Integrated Authentication
• External Security Managers (ESM) Z/os
