Cabletron Systems was a manufacturer of networking computer equipment throughout the 1980s and 1990s whose designing and sales methodologies dramatically reduced the cost of Ethernet networking equipment, covering a wide range of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking technologies within a unified product line.

Cabletron Systems was, eventually, acquired by Siemens and later transferred to Extreme Networks
