Overview#

Connection Draining is a process where existing connections to a service are allowed to be terminated "naturally" before the service is terminated.

Connection Draining is often used in routers or Load Balancing applicaitons.

Connection Draining configurations often allow this feature to be active only for a specified interval before the service is terminated and then required to hit another server because they might have still been maintained due to Session Affinity.
