Consolidated Consular Database was created to provide Bureau of Consular Affairs a near real-time aggregate of the consular transaction activity collected domestically and at post databases.
Consolidated Consular Database is the information technology (IT) implementation that provides for a set of centralized visa and American citizen services supporting consular posts and back office functions. The three primary functions performed by Consolidated Consular Database are:
Authorized users utilize the Consolidated Consular Database Portal to view the centralized data through a rich set of reports as well as to gain access to other applications. CCD serves as a gateway to the Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT). IDENT is DHS' implementation of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) technology providing automated fingerprint checking in addition to integration with other United States federal government biometric systems.
Consolidated Consular Database also serves as a gateway to the United States Department of State Facial recognition system.
