Overview#
DIT Chaining provides a mechanism for making data in a remote Directory System Agent appear as if it is part of the local server.DIT Chaining is used to present a part of the DIT using data from another server (DSA). Any request that the DSA receives for data in a chained portion of the DIT, the request is transparently (to the Client) forwarded to the DSA that actually contains the data and then returned to the Client
NOTE: Chaining maybe implemented and/or defined differently by various LDAP Server Implementations.
