Overview#
DSA-Specific Entry (DSE), we often use RootDSE.All LDAPv3 servers should provide a special LDAP Entry that provides information about the capabilities of that server and the data that it contains.
This entry is called the rootDSE (where (DSE) stands for DSA-Specific Entry), and it is the entry that has the null DN (i.e., the DN with zero RDNs, and a string representation that is the empty string).
RFC 2251 states "The root of the DIT is a DSA-Specific Entry and not part of any naming Context."
