Overview#

Data State is used to describe the "state" that data could be in at any given time.

We describe the possible Data States as:

• Data At Rest
• Data In Transit
• Data In Process
• In the Wild - The data is not known to be in one of the states above or the location of the data is not known.

Data State may be Contextual Attributes and could be used within Attribute Based Access Control
