!!! Overview[1][2]
[{$pagename}] ([DPKI]) or [Decentralized Key Management System] ([DKMS]) goal is to ensure that no single [third-party] can compromise the [integrity] and [security] of the system as as whole.

[{$pagename}] is a [Cryptographic] [Key Management] [Architecture]

[Trust] is decentralized through the use of technologies that make it possible for geographically and politically disparate [entities] to reach [consent] on the state of a shared database.

[{$pagename}] focuses primarily on decentralized key-value [Data Stores], called [blockchains], but it is perfectly capable of supporting other technologies that provide similar or superior security properties.

[{$pagename}] foundation is used with the [Decentralized Identifier] ([DIDs]) [Specification]
Each [DID] method specification defines:
* The specific ledger against which the DID method operates;
* The format of the method-specific identifier;
* The [CRUD] operations (create, read, update, delete) for [DIDs] and [DDOs] on that [ledger|Distributed Ledger Technology].

Work by [Evernym INC.] on the [DKMS] [specification] is funded by the [United States Department of Homeland Security] Science & Technology Directorate ([DHS] S&T).
