Overview#

Durability is usually related to the ability to NOT lose data or Data Integrity for Data At Rest

Durability is part of Reliability

Durability does not imply Availability, as Recovery Time is not included within Durability.

ACID#

Durability is one of the ACID transaction properties.

Durability implies that any transaction that the data store has reported as complete and committed successfully is guaranteed to be on persistent storage. Even if the Server, Operating System, or hardware should fail the instant after the notification of the successful commit, then that change will NOT be lost.
