Overview#

Key Deletion or Crypto-shredding is to the process of delete all copies of a key or Secret within a defined environment, so that the key is no longer recoverable in that environment.

Key Deletion may be performed so that any data encrypted by a Cryptographic Key is no longer able to be recovered.

Key Deletion includes getting rid of old backup tapes, data stored in the cloud computing, computers, phones, multi-function printers can be challenging when confidentiality of information is an issue. When encryption is in place, it will enable a smooth disposal of data.
