Mallory is an Actor and a malicious active Attacker is an active Observer (Man-In-The-Middle) attacker who can modify messages, substitute his/her own messages, replay old messages, and so on.

Mallory is often an imposter trying spoofing Attacks using create "fake" credentials Identity Attributes or Identity Documents exploit a vulnerability in Authentication Methods Identity Proofing processes.

The difficulty of securing a system against Mallory is much greater than against Eve.

Mallory is less commonly called Mallet or Trudy, an intruder.
