Retinal recognition refers to the automated process to gather and verification of a match for the Physiological Characteristic biometric data based on the mathematical pattern-recognition between two patterns based on a person's retina blood vessels.

Retinal recognition is not to be confused with another ocular-based technology, iris recognition.
