Overview#
Roaming Authenticator is a Web Authentication API WebAuthN Authenticator which is an Implementation of the WebAuthn Authenticator Model and is typically a Security Key that can connect to multiple WebAuthn Client Device, and interaction MUST be negotiated over a supported transport protocol.Roaming Authenticators may be:
- Touch ID with a Secure Element
- Fingerprint reader with a Secure Element
- PIN and Touch sensor with a Secure Element
- Virtual Authenticators
Roaming Authenticator may support CTAP1, CTAP2, or both protocols.Examples of Roaming Authenticators might include USB security keys, BLE-enabled Mobile Device applications, or NFC-enabled proximity cards.
