Overview#

SS7 hack is an Attack on the Signalling System No. 7 was done by calling Verizon and successfully changing my phone's SIM, the hacker bypassed two-factor verification.In other SS7 hack attacks the Mobile TAN was intercepted.

SS7 hack and SMS#

A vulnerability in the Signalling System No. 7 used for SMS transmission which allows interception Short Message Service (SMS) and fraudulently redirect fund transfers.

The typical SS7 hack is done by manipulating the suppling a fake Mobile Switching Center which allow the interception of data.

These malware infect account holders’ computers and steal bank account passwords. Only after obtaining that unauthorized access which then the attackers could view available balances, but they were prevented from making transfers without the Transaction Authentication Number sent by the Financial Institution sent as a Short Message Service.
