Overview#
Schema Master FSMO Role is a Flexible Single Master Operation and a Domain Controller responsible for performing updates to the Microsoft Active Directory Schema Partition(that is, the schema naming context or LDAP://cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=<domain>). Schema Master FSMO Role is the only Domain Controller that can process updates to the Microsoft Active Directory schema. Once the Schema update is complete, Schema Master FSMO Role the replicates to all other Domain Controllers in the directory. There is only one Schema Master FSMO Role per AD Forest.
