Overview#
Site Certificate is the server's Certificate.Site Certificate could be:
- a Trusted Certificate
- a Subject Certificate (ie not "yet" a Trusted Certificate)
A Site Certificate should identify the server by DNS and perhaps by other Subject Alternative Names.
Site Certificate binds together:
- A domain name, server name or hostname. (Domain Validated Certificates)
- An organizational identity (i.e. company name) and location. (Organization Validated Certificate or Extended Validation Certificate)
A Site Certificate that uses a Self-signed Certificate MUST NOT be trusted outside of a secure network.
