Overview#
W3C Credential Management API describes an imperative
API enabling a
website to request a user’s
credentials from a
user-agent, and to help the
user-agent correctly store user
credentials for future use.W3C Credential Management API is intentionally small and simple: W3C Credential Management API does not intend to provide
authentication in and of itself, but is limited to providing an interface to the existing
Credential Management implemented by existing
user-agents. That functionality is valuable right now, without significant effort on the part of either vendors or authors. There’s certainly quite a bit more which could be done, of course.
